L&T Socket Weld Ball Valve

Comprehensive Technical Guide to L&T Three-Piece Full Bore Ball Valves: Specifications, Ratings & Dimensional Analysis

In critical fluid handling, high-pressure utility networks, and process lines, full flow capacity and inline maintainability are essential requirements. L&T Three-Piece Ball Valves (Full Bore)—manufactured to the rigorous ISO 17292 standard—are engineered to deliver maximum flow efficiency with minimal pressure drop across ASME Class 150, 300, 600, and 2500 pressure envelopes.

Featuring screwed and socket-weld end configurations, these three-piece valves allow quick swing-out inline servicing without disturbing process line integrity.

Pressure Limits & Cold Working Pressure (CWP)

The operating pressure thresholds for L&T three-piece ball valves are determined by the selected seat insert material:

  • PTFE Seats: Rated up to 69 bar Cold Working Pressure.
  • RPTFE & Special Filled PTFE Seats: Rated up to 103 bar Cold Working Pressure.
  • Devlon Seats: High-strength polymer configuration rated up to 400 bar Cold Working Pressure.
  • PEEK Seats: Extreme-duty seat configuration rated up to 425 bar Cold Working Pressure.

Note: Screwed/socket-weld valves in sizes DN 8 to DN 50 feature a body rating of Class 800, while larger sizes (DN 65 to DN 100) carry a Class 300 body rating.

Key Design & Performance Advantages

  • Unrestricted Full Bore Flow: Identical internal bore diameter to the connecting pipe minimizes pressure drop and prevents fluid cavitation.
  • High-Pressure Versatility: Engineered to safely handle extreme pressures up to 425 bar when equipped with advanced polymer PEEK seats.
  • Dual Connection Configurations: Supports both threaded (BSPT/NPT) and socket-weld piping connections across the entire size matrix.
  • Modular Serviceability: The three-piece body architecture permits straightforward center-section removal for seat and seal replacement without needing to dismantle adjacent piping ends.
